This workshop focuses on practical model activities in the specific school subject Regional Education at grammar school. The topics are related to the historic town Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia, such as UNESCO, mining culture, educational heritage, social history, local traditions, and its connection to national and world histories. The subject unites humanities and arts within school subjects and educational topics such as history, civic rights, geography, art and culture, literature, ethnology, folklore, so it has an interdisciplinary character. The workshop presents how any town or a region may serve as a model of microhistory, where any field of human activities and thinking can be depicted. Teaching methods, such as project-based, outdoor, and experiential learning, have been used at my school so far, therefore the workshop presents the methods applied in teaching practice and provides guidance and experience on examples from the UNESCO town and region. The aim of the workshop as well as of the subject itself is to show the applicable variability of the regional education for any environment, period, field of study, and learners.
