Since its founding in 1993, the Faculty of Arts at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra has experienced dynamic growth across all areas, establishing itself as a modern center for education, research, and the arts. Today, it stands as a mature and respected educational institution within the European academic area.

The Faculty’s mission is to promote education, science, ethics, art, and culture, guided by national, universal, humanistic, and democratic traditions. It prepares future specialists across a wide range of disciplines in the arts, sciences, media, and social sciences, as well as professionals for state and public administration. In addition, the Faculty trains teachers for the second level of elementary education and for secondary schools. Academic programs are closely intertwined with the scientific, research, and artistic activities conducted by the Faculty’s departments and specialized units. The Faculty offers comprehensive education at all three levels of higher education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral studies. It ensures flexibility in the selection of study programs, disciplines, and specialized (elective and optional) courses and seminars. Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and exchange internships that provide valuable opportunities for studying abroad. The appeal of the Faculty is reflected in the large number of students enrolled in both full-time and part-time study, as well as the ongoing interest shown by new applicants. Alongside Slovak students, dozens of international students pursue their studies at the Faculty, each following their academic interests and professional aspirations.

The Faculty’s scientific and research activities are deeply connected to its educational mission. Its research focus spans a broad range of humanities and social sciences, covering both basic and applied research, as well as innovations in teaching methodologies. The latest findings from ongoing research projects are disseminated through scientific publications, conferences, and cultural-educational initiatives.

In pursuing its mission, the Faculty maintains close cooperation with leading educational and cultural institutions, including research institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences such as the Ľudovít Štúr Institute of Linguistics, the Ján Stanislav Institute of Slavistics, the Institute of Slovak Literature, the Institute of World Literature, the Institute of History, the Institute of Archaeology, the Institute of Political Sciences, the Institute of Ethnology, and the Institute of Musicology, as well as the National Institute for Education, among others. The Faculty actively promotes international collaboration and fosters the exchange of information, expertise, and personnel. It cooperates extensively with European educational and research institutions through programs such as Erasmus+, CEEPUS, the International Visegrad Fund, and other European grant schemes. These partnerships enable student, doctoral candidate, teacher, and researcher mobility, support joint research initiatives, and encourage the dissemination of knowledge and experience. Beyond Europe, the Faculty continues to strengthen partnerships through bilateral agreements with institutions in Central Asia, South America, and North America, further expanding its global reach.
