Russian Language in Professional and Intercultural Communication


  • Graduate Profile:
    The graduates exhibit a comprehensive understanding of analytical, synthetic, and interpretive principles that apply to both philological and non-philological aspects. They possess knowledge of the fundamental principles governing language functioning in interpersonal communication, as well as in broader social, cultural, and pragmatic contexts. Additionally, they demonstrate the ability to monitor and regulate their own cognitive processes. These graduates are well-versed in the historical, cultural, and social realities of the Russian language area, as well as another Slavic language area, namely Ukrainian. They possess theoretical and methodological knowledge in translation and interpretation theory, and are acquainted with the principles of business and intercultural communication. They are capable of recognising the methodological, professional, and practical value of their acquired knowledge. Moreover, they demonstrate critical thinking skills, employ scientific methods of cognition, apply their general and professional knowledge flexibly in practice, and effectively utilise various sources of information. At the linguistic level, these graduates are proficient in Russian at the C1 level and Ukrainian at the B1 level. They possess translation and interpreting skills, enabling them to anticipate and infer connections between content, form, and function of linguistic elements. They are adept at analysing and interpreting diverse types of texts and possess multicultural competencies.

    The graduates are well-prepared for employment opportunities that demand fluency in Russian (or Ukrainian) language skills, along with a deep understanding of cultural and societal contexts. They have various career options available to them, including roles in the tourism industry, catering and hotel management businesses, government and local administration, the third sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), arts and cultural institutions, administration, as well as in universities and scientific research institutions.
