Graduate Profile: The graduates possess a solid theoretical understanding of conventional material, spiritual, and social cultures, along with the historical contexts of their development in Slovakia and Central Europe. They engage with both theoretical and practical aspects of musical, dance, verbal, and folkloric traditions, as well as traditional visual arts. They have a comprehensive understanding of the ethnic and religious composition of Slovakia, the underlying principles of acculturation processes, and the complexities of interethnic coexistence. They are capable of independently navigating the cultural specificities of local and regional communities. Moreover, they are well-versed in the terminology, theoretical foundations, and methodological principles of ethnology and social and cultural anthropology. They exhibit the capability to autonomously formulate the objectives of ethnological research and effectively apply their expertise to meticulously plan and conduct ethnographic field research.
Graduate Employment: The graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities in domestic and international research and research-educational institutions, as well as in governmental and non-governmental organisations that specialise in the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, and support for socially disadvantaged groups, ethnic minorities, and minority cultures. They are well-suited for positions in institutions dedicated to documenting, protecting, and promoting traditional culture and tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Additionally, they can contribute to cultural and educational institutions, museums, and heritage organisations. Their expertise makes them valuable as expert consultants or members of project teams focused on the strategic development of communities and the cultural sector. They are equipped to undertake various professional, scientific, educational, and creative activities in culture, regional tourism, rural development, or research and public outreach initiatives centred on cultural heritage and minority cultures.
